Instructor Lisa Therrien will guide participants in the creation of sewn fabric squares that represent personal stories. The squares will be sashed, put together, and bound to create a community quilt. The finished quilt will be displayed at the Heritage Winooski Mill Museum in September, then will be permanently on display at the Heineberg.

"This place has been a godsend. We moved here seven years ago, and it's hard to make new friends when you're 80! I've met so many wonderful people, and it's like a support group for me." ~ anonymous participant
"I just finished a Flow Singing month at the Heineberg Community Senior Center, and I wanted to say how wonderful it is to sing gathered in a circle in a space with a beautiful, resonant wood floor. I love that the building was built in 1941 by NNE volunteers with donated materials with the intent of supporting community connection and activity. Our Flow Singing circle this month had people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s singing together and connecting. I see people going to Bone Builders classes Tai Chi and Yoga, not to mention all the ongoing activity going on downstairs! Seems like the intent of the building is being met in so many ways. ~ Patricia Norton, Juneberry Music
The Heineberg Community Senior Center, established in 1971, is an independent, community-based non-profit serving more than 600 participants per year.
Our mission is to promote the social, physical, and emotional well-being of community members 50+. We offer free and donation-based programs, meals, and activities to reduce isolation and improve social connections while empowering seniors to take a proactive role in their quality of life.
As an independent 501(c)3 non-profit, donations support our free meals and activities for Chittenden County seniors.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or sharing information about our programs through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
