The Heineberg is proud to once again host AARP volunteer tax preparers on Fridays, beginning February 7 and running through April 11.
Please call us at (802) 863-3982 to schedule an appointment. We will send you a checklist of essential documents to bring with you the day of your appointment.
When you walk into the Heineberg Community Senior Center, you walk into more than a space for activities and meals; you walk into a second home. For the hundreds of seniors who come through our doors each year, our center is a place where they find far more than free meals and activities - they find community.
The first thing you hear when you walk through our doors is laughter. Upstairs, you’ll find neighbors keeping their minds and bodies strong with Bone Builders, Yoga, Tai Chi, and more. Downstairs, you’ll find folks playing Mahjong, Bingo, and other games, reading books in our library, eating hearty, homemade meals together, and sharing stories with others who understand the fullness of the grief and joy that a long life brings. We make space, physically and emotionally, for local seniors to find community inclusion and belonging. At a time when there is an epidemic of loneliness in our country, we are pushing back against that isolation and coming together.
We invite you to be a part of the small miracles that take place every day here at the Heineberg. With a financial gift, you help us keep our programs and meals free for all local seniors. With the gift of your time as a volunteer, you help our older neighbors move beyond just getting by, toward living a full, active life.
Thank you for being part of this community we love so dearly. With your support, we will continue to be a place where we get to show our older neighbors, family members, and friends, that we treasure them.
Four per household, will be mailed to you at no cost.

"This place has been a godsend. We moved here seven years ago, and it's hard to make new friends when you're 80! I've met so many wonderful people, and it's like a support group for me." ~ anonymous participant
"I just finished a Flow Singing month at the Heineberg Community Senior Center, and I wanted to say how wonderful it is to sing gathered in a circle in a space with a beautiful, resonant wood floor. I love that the building was built in 1941 by NNE volunteers with donated materials with the intent of supporting community connection and activity. Our Flow Singing circle this month had people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s singing together and connecting. I see people going to Bone Builders classes Tai Chi and Yoga, not to mention all the ongoing activity going on downstairs! Seems like the intent of the building is being met in so many ways. ~ Patricia Norton, Juneberry Music
The Heineberg Community Senior Center, established in 1971, is an independent, community-based non-profit serving more than 600 older Vermonters every year.
Our mission is to support the social, physical, and emotional well-being of community members ages 50+. We offer free, donation-based programs, meals, and activities to reduce isolation, develop friendships, strengthen bones, maintain balance and flexibility, access nutritious food, improve social connections, and share laughter and life experiences.
As an independent 501(c)3 non-profit, donations support our free meals and activities for Chittenden County seniors.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or sharing information about our programs through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
